The village
Analipsi
A Blue Flag seaside village in Hersonissos municipality — olive groves, a kilometre-long walk to the beach, and Europe's padel & tennis hub at Lyttos Beach next door.
Analipsi does not perform for tourists. It lives — and it happens to sit on one of the best stretches of Crete's north coast.
Spell it Analipsi or Analipsis (Αναλήψη): both names belong to the same coastal village in the Hersonissos municipality, on Crete's north shore. The village lies about 21 km east of Heraklion and 20 minutes from Heraklion International Airport (HER), right off the main road toward Agios Nikolaos — between Gouves to the west and Anissaras / Hersonissos to the east.
How the village is laid out
Analipsi is built along a road roughly one kilometre long, sloping from the old national highway down to the sea. Whitewashed houses, geraniums, and olive groves line the way. At the bottom, a small church stands by the shore — a landmark every guest learns to recognise.
Inland, a central square with a palm tree and star-shaped paving is where village life gathers. Side streets branch off to tavernas, cafés, and small shops. The atmosphere is livelier than a hamlet, calmer than Hersonissos — families, repeat visitors, and locals who know each other by name.
The beach & promenade
East of the church stretches Analipsi's main beach: long, sandy, Blue Flag certified, with a gentle slope into shallow water — ideal for children and unhurried swimming. A promenade of nearly two kilometres runs along the coast, lined with tavernas, cafés, and sunbed operators (free public access; loungers for a fee).
West of the church the coast turns rockier and quieter — better for snorkelling and coastal walks. At the far western end, near the Aposelemis river mouth, you will find another sandy cove where the landscape opens toward Gouves.
Star Beach water park is about 5 km away; Hersonissos nightlife and shopping are a 10-minute drive. Up the hill, Koutouloufari is a favourite for long dinners — stone lanes, views, and tavernas without the resort-strip noise. Along the coast you will find cafés, bars, shops, karting, and seaside pool clubs when you want a livelier afternoon or evening. Buses run along the coast from Heraklion through Gouves and Analipsi toward Hersonissos and Malia.
Morning in the village
Wake to bread baking at the edge of town. The main street has what you need: Europa supermarket for the week, a village bakery for breakfast, Orange Café for traditional Greek coffee, Mam Pizzeria for easy evenings. For sit-down Cretan food, Sirtaki Tavern and Marina Taverna on the waterfront are village institutions — fresh fish, meze, and the unhurried pace Analipsi is known for.
You hear Greek mixed with German, French, Dutch, and English. Analipsi hosts Europe gently, without losing itself.
Five minutes to the sea from Konaki
From Konaki Analipsi, the beach is not an excursion — it is part of daily life. A 5–10 minute walk through the village and olive trees, and the Aegean opens in front of you. Return home salty, sun-warmed, and ready for a shower and a terrace glass of wine.
Where Konaki sits
Konaki is in the Analipsi Residence — Erofilis, a small residential community with shared pool and garden, private parking (spot C1), and three terraces — one with a pergola and barbecue for dinners under the stars.
You are not in a hotel corridor. You are in a neighbourhood: neighbours who value quiet hours, a gardener who tends the shared green, and the cats who wander the island without invitation (please do not feed them at the door).
Tennis, padel & international tournaments at Lyttos Beach
Five to eight minutes by car from Konaki — and walking distance from the village centre — sits the Lyttos Sports Center at Lyttos Beach Resort (Anissaras / Analipsi, postal code 70014).
This is one of Crete's premier sports destinations:
- Lyttos Tennis Academy — professional courts and coaching; ITF tournaments hosted since 2012; training camps and pre-season blocks through the season
- Padel — five courts (four indoor, one outdoor with evening lighting); the centre regularly hosts FIP World Padel Tour events (Silver and Bronze tiers in summer, plus autumn fixtures)
- Beach tennis, beach volleyball & soccer on premium quartz-sand courts
- Pickleball, table tennis, swimming camps, basketball, football, gym, and physiotherapy on site
If you are coming to train, compete, or referee at Lyttos — or joining a partner for a tournament week — Konaki is a practical alternative to a resort room:
- Two bedrooms — space for a doubles partner, coach, or family
- Quiet evenings away from hotel corridors — recover on your own terrace
- Shared pool and private parking (spot C1) for early departures to the courts
- ~20 minutes from Heraklion Airport — same transfer time as the sports centre
- Direct booking with Alex — mention your tournament dates in your inquiry; airport taxi and car rental can be arranged at fair local rates
Competing at Lyttos? Tell Alex your event dates when you book — he knows the Analipsi–Anissaras coast and can help you plan arrivals around practice-court schedules.
The perfect balance
Ten minutes by car to Hersonissos for shopping, restaurants, and nightlife. Twenty-five minutes to Heraklion — museums, harbour, and Knossos nearby. Sixteen kilometres to Malia for a change of scene.
And when you do not feel like driving? Stay. Swim. Read on the terrace. Let the village carry the day.
What guests remember
- The walk to the beach through olive groves
- Terraces that catch the last light
- A pool shared with a handful of residents, never crowded
- The feeling that Crete here is lived, not staged
- For athletes: waking up minutes from world-class padel and tennis courts
Previous guests say it plainly: "It's our little paradise." "I come back here every year."
Come see why — and write your own chapter in Analipsi.
